Progress Report

Can it really be Friday already? And not just any Friday but the last Friday in February? Where has the time gone?

It's snowing again here in the heart of Amish country and I never thought I'd say this but ENOUGH ALREADY! I am starving for sunshine and warm weather. I keep reminding myself that soon enough it will be spring and all the piles of snow will melt away.

For now though we are managing to keep busy with remodeling, work and life in general. Here are some recent pics.

I managed to get all the trim painted. Hooraah! Here are some pieces of crown molding and door trim.

Here is the kitchen in it's state right now. I am so pleased with how it's coming along!! I was still undecided about whether or not I liked the backsplash color and wall color but now that things are coming together I love them!

My sink (with new cottage-y faucet!!) and dishwasher!

close up on faucet. :)

One day while walking by the living room door I looked in and just had to chuckle to myself. I thought: 'I really should take a picture of this so we can remember when it's all done how we have been living.' Haha. I am very thankful for my husbands great sense of humor through all of this! Not one complaint has he uttered!

And here we have my little helper. He is my sunshine even when there is none to be found in the bleak winter sky.

Today I am linking to Remodelaholics Anonymous. See the button on my sidebar.

  1. Oh I can see how wonderful it will be! I am IN LOVE with your sink, where did you find it, I admit I skim read, you might have mentioned it, I will go back and check.

I ADORE the bead board, are you planning on leaving the cabinet doors off or have glass inserts on that back wall.

I am so glad you took a picture of the furniture/appliances in the living room, we have definitely lived through that too... but for much longer than a single day, I think it was like two weeks... Good times.

Anyway, I will stop rambling you are probably skim reading this it's so long! Thanks so much for joining you the party... I REALLY want you to link the final product when you get there!

  3. Thanks for the comments on the sink. It actually is the one that was here when we moved in! I know - lucky me!! I love it! There's another one in the basement too!

To answer some more questions: we are leaving some of the cabinets open but the rest will have doors. I like some exposed shelving but wasn't quite brave enough to make it all that. So above the sink and stove will be open.

As far as our current living situation. I will be so glad when all of our furniture is not packed into 1 room!! We have been living this way for a little less than a month now. 2 weeks is starting to sound good. haha! It will all be worth it! :)

I will try to be sure to link the final product to a remodelaholics anonymous friday! Thanks for the comments!

  5. I know it is a lot of hard work and a mess to live with now, but it will be so worth all of it. We built our home ourselves fourteen years ago and both worked full time jobs, too. It was so much hard work and little sleep, but we have such pride in what we were able to accomplish. The savings in money were so worth it. We have even done a lot of remodeling since that time. I lived with our kitchen in a mess when we got new door and drawer fronts and granite to replace the corian. Also when we had the hardwoods put it the whole house was horrible for two weeks and soooo much dust. You will survive this. Isn't it fun and rewarding?
